Pfc. Michael Elsmere Lucas Oct. 29, 1949-Oct. 6, 1969 Oroville Michael Lucas joined (he Army in October 1968. four months after he graduated from Las Plumas High School in Oroville. After boot camp, he trained as a paratrooper in airborne school, and on July 21. 1969 landed in Vietnam to serve with the 82nd Airborne. The 19-year-old soldier was killed in action just over two months later. Chico News & Review, May 26, 1988
