| Notes | Pfc. Larry Hart Patterson Mar. 27, 1949 - Aug. 31, 1968 Gridley Young Larry Patterson, like so many soldiers, lasted less than a month in Vietnam before he was killed. A San Diego native, Patterson and his family moved to Paradise in 1958. He attended Paradise schools, including two years at Paradise High before transferring to Gridley High in I 965. At Gridley, Patterson was senior class president and played varsity football, basketball and baseball. He graduated in 1967. Patterson joined the Army in early 1968 and arrived in Vietnam Aug. 2, 1968, where he was assigned to the 88th Transportation Company. He was killed in action just 29 days later.
